Wood Deck Plans with Retractable Awnings
from: Maxx Home GuidesA common element in wood deck plans is the presence of a retractable awning. These awnings are actually practical elements since they're basically roofs that provide shelter from rain and harsh sunlight, as well as providing shade and helping to keep the deck in good condition.
Decks are outdoor elements of a structure, which often serves as a connection path for various sections of a building or house. Some wood deck plans also define decks as lounging areas.
Decks are often designed to be off the ground, and they're usually made from hard wood which is strong enough to withstand any type of weather conditions. Historically, outdoor decks were often constructed with Redwood, Atlantic White Cedar and Western Red Cedar which are all quite strong.
But due to over logging, many decks are now made with other materials, which are equally sturdy, but are avaialbe in large quantities. Decks are now often made using treated lumber, teak, mahogany, composite lumber, or wood fibers, and some are even made from aluminum and mixed plastics.
Regarding wood deck plans, retractable awnings are quite beneficial for anyone on the deck, but also for the deck itself. Retractable awnings are more common in wood deck plans compared to wood deck plans featuring fixed roofs, as retractable awnings give users the option of easily keeping the roof up or down.
There are basically two classes of retractable awnings used in wood deck plans -- the automatic variety and the manual class. Automatic retractable awnings use a motor for raising and lowering. Manual retractable awnings employ manual force for their successful operation.
