Elegant, Low Maintenance Synthetic Deck Material

Manufacturers have realized that appearance is important when choosing synthetic deck material. Deep wood grains embossed on a specific surface of a board have the appearance of wood giving them that classy look.
There are generally five separate categories of synthetic deck material and two types of plastic and wood composites, polyethylene composite and polypropylene composite.
Polypropylene Composite: This is a mixture of plastic and wood. The materials are usually 50% pure and 50% recycled. These materials are made from Polypropylene and very fine wood particles. They're manufactured under pressure and heat to easily encapsulate the wood into the plastic.
The materials then becomes very light in color after the first few years of use, unless protected with a Ultra Violet inhibitor. Most producers make the surface of this type of synthetic deck material with wood grains embossed into it. In addition, this type retains its shape if you decide to bend it and make curved railings or benches.
Polyethylene Composite: This type of synthetic deck material has deep embossed grains created by a process called compression molding. The materials contain polyethylene plastic which is partially recycled and wood fiber. This decking usually carries a limited warranty of 25 years and is available in four different natural colors including Redwood, Cedar, Cape Cod Grey and Weathered Wood.
Laminated Vinyl Membrane: This type of synthetic deck material consists of polyester fabrics which are encapsulated in between two vinyl films. The finish thickness of this vinyl membrane is about 50 mm. This product is perfect if you're looking for a maintenance-free deck.
Aluminum: This is another popular type of synthetic deck material homeowners prefer. Aluminum has the least amount of contraction and expansion of all man-made materials. It also has a powder-coat paint finish and is available in tan, gray and white. Carbide saw can be used to saw aluminum and it's important for its edges to be properly smoothed.
Homeowers who want an elegant deck with less maintenance and expense should consider building their deck using synthetic deck material.
