Patio Deck Umbrellas

from: Maxx Home Guides

Spending time on your patio deck, watching the world go by, listening to birds chirping away, enjoying the warm weather while you're in the shade under your patio awning -- isn't life grand?

Unfortunately, something is missing. What could it be?

A patio umbrella, of course! No patio should be without one. In fact, patio umbrellas aren't just ideal for your patio, but are also the perfect poolside accent and garden piece.

Once you've decided to pick up a patio umbrella, you'll discover there are lots of different types available. You'll find attractive and affordable patio umbrellas in many different styles and sizes.

Patio umbrellas can be broadly categorized into two types. The first type is used via a pole which you attach to the center of the patio deck table. This type has the usual umbrella shape but can be manufactured from various types of fabrics -- one of which will suit your taste.

The second type of patio umbrellas is the freestanding or offset type which works well if you don't like a pole between you and your guests. Since these patio umbrellas are freestanding, they're easy to move around, providing you with ample sun protection when needed.

Patio umbrellas are manufactured to withstand harsh weather, which makes sense since these patio accessories are meant to spend time outdoors where they're exposed to all types of adverse weather conditions.

Along with tough fabrics that can deal with the weather, some patio umbrellas come with frames made of aluminum or wood, which are the two most common materials used for garden and patio furniture.

Aluminum isn't susceptible to rust, so you can expect these umbrellas to last. However, wood has long been the preferred material for patio furniture and accessories, including patio umbrellas since they're the highest quality, which means they're more expensive than other types and well worth the investment.

Choosing a patio umbrella made of durable material means you can take them anywhere with little worry. If you're planning to go to the beach, you can bring along your patio umbrella to give you lots of shade while relaxing near the water. Of course, you'll need to choose a patio umbrella made of light, portable material for these situations.
