Expanding Your Garage
from: Maxx Home GuidesAre you looking for some extra space for your oldest child who's reached an age where he need a little more liberty? Or do you work from home or perhaps you just need an extra room for a special project you want to get started? Once solution might be to buid yourself a new addition to your garage.
Building an addition to your garage will add to your home's living space, regardless of whether your garage is detached or attached to the house. Another plan of action is to covert the space above your garage into a private living space for an older child, or you could turn it into a guest room or a private area for a live-in parent.
You might also consider turning your garage into a home office, a place you might find the peace and quiet away from the rest of the family where you can get your work. There are also many many usages for a new addition such as making it into a music studio by adding some simple sound proofing measures into place. You could also use the space for an artists studio, sewing room, games room with a pool table or ping pong table, a library -- the possibilities are endless.
When if figured out what you want to do with your garage addition, the place to start is to make a plan and prepare a budget which includes what professional services you'll require, including a building contractor and perhaps an architect to help you with your construction plans.
