Tiles and slate are both good choice for durability and endurance and because they need less maintenance when compared to wood shakes.
Finally, a material becoming more popular is metal roofing. You can see them on houses just about everywhere because of its proven durability and long-lasting value. It doesn't get eaten up by fire and is relatively maintenance-free. When it comes to weight, this is relatively light compared to the rest of the roofing materials.

However, you have to consider three important factors in choosing which are the best roofing materials to be used: make sure you know what style you want for your roof, determine the cost, and consider the location and whether the roof can resist the type of weather conditions in your area.
