When you consider the elements of design, illumination and functionality when shopping for a window covering, it's simply a matter of using your good taste to achieve the results you want.
Secrecy is one purpose of a window covering and for this purpose you can utilize roller shades, draperies, curtains and vertical blinds, among others.
Finding a design that will complement your room is another important aspect of choosing window coverings. You can show your personality by how you arrange your coverings by playing with different shades or contrasting figures. Valances can be perfectly applied where you have an option of having it bundled, pleated, laced or shirred. You can also do with natural shutters that can be folded up if you want more light to get in the room.
Illumination is divided into ultraviolet rays from the sun and blocking the glare. Ultraviolet rays from the sun will largely influence the fixtures, fabrics and furnishings adorned in your home. Blocking the glare is for the benefit of those still sleeping in the morning.
Functionality is also a consideration. Your window coverings shouldn't get tangled up when you try to open and close them, which is usually a sign of poorly installed curtains.
