Auto Security Systems

from: Maxx Home Guides

Auto security systems are not really a new concept. They've been around for years and were designed to help car owners secure their vehicles from theft and vandalism in an effective manner. As with other security systems, auto security products can come with a fairly high price tag. However, the advantages auto security systems provide definitely outweight the cost.

An auto security system installed in your vehicle is likely to discourage potential thieves away from your car as their target and move them to search for easier pickings.

There are several types of auto security systems available. These range from steering sweep locks to more high tech security alarms and immobilizers. The choice is yours depending on the type of car you have and how much money you have to spend. If you've finding difficult to decide on the right system, here's a quick review of the three main types of auto security systems.

Audible Security Systems

Audible security systems are designed to warn anyone in the general area of your car that a breakin has been attempted. Of all the available types of security, this is one of the most common because the system quickly catches everyone's attention. When you hear a car beeping in a parking lot or garage, you'll know the vehicle has an attached audible auto security system.

Inaudible Security Systems

These systems are the opposite of the audible type and were designed because people didn't appreciate the beeping sounds of an audible auto security systems blasting away. If you find audible systems disturbing, then this type may be a better choice. These systems use a pager when there is an attempted breakin to page the car's owner electronically. So what happens if the owner is too far away from the car to take immediate action?

Unfortunately, the owner might discover the vehicle has been taken by a thief by the time he returns to his car. Inaudible auto security systems do inform the owner about danger, but they can't directly provide an immediate solution.

Ignition System Immobilizers

Finally, ignition system immobilizers are the newest in auto security technology. These systems prevent a vehicle from being started by an intruder making it difficult for the vehicle to be stolen.

When choosing a car security systems, here are some of the most important features to look for:

Remote Outputs:
Several reviews have it that remote outputs are designed specifically for the car security systems to expand their alarm capabilities by way of adding highlights, such as window controls and a remote starter. When choosing these products, look for alarms that feature remote outputs.

Motion Sensors: These sensor work to detect someone invading your car space. It can be used even if you leave your car windows open or the top down. This function is why motion sensors are perfect for protecting cargo areas in trucks and vans.

Glass Break Sensors: This type of sensor makes a sound when it detects the sound of a window breaking. If you have this feature in your car's security system, there's a great possibility you'll be protected, particularly from thieves who believe they can stay away from your alarm by not opening the car's door.

Driver's Side Priority Unlock: This feature allows you to open your door without unlocking the others. With this car security system feature, you can get in your vehicle without letting your guard down.

There are a lot more features to consider when choosing a car security system, however, these are the most preferred.
