Carpet Installation

from: Maxx Home Guides

One of the major factors in how your interior looks and feels is your floors. Houses with carpets have a warmth, vibrancy and aesthetic appeal that's hard to beat. With such a wide range of colors, textures, materials and designs available, your home can be transformed with every room having it's own unique look. Installing carpets is a long term proposition, so it's important to select the very best you can afford that suits your needs and make sure their installed right the first time.

Now that you've choosen your carpet's material and design, you'll need to have it installed. You can choose to hire professional carpet installers or do the job yourself. Though doing it yourself is cheaper, of course, it's better to hire professionals if you don't have the right tools, time, or experience to do the job properly.

Once way to get a professional installation of your carpeting is to buy from an authorized carpet retailer or dealer. These carpet retailers usually have an experienced installation staff available to handle the job.

If the retailer doesn't offer an installation service, it's likely they'll be able to recommend a reputable and experienced installer. Installation by a retailer is often a bit more expensive, however there are several several advantages. The experience will show in the quality of their work which means you'll be much happier in the long run. In addition, you'll probably receive some type of satisfaction guarantee which means you can approach them if you aren't satisfied with their work.

On the other hand, if you're need to find a low budget carpet installation services, there is the option of hiring independent contractors, architects, builders, or interior designers. Always get their references and inquire about their experience first, along with where they received their training, and any certification they may have.

A good way to see the quality of their work is to visit homes the installer has previously worked on, since this will give you an idea how well they do their work before you hire them. If this isn't possible, you may be able to see some pictures of their work.

Private contractors do offer a lower rate for carpet installation, however, their service after installation may be less than desired. If you have a problem with the job they did, your options may very well be limited. Regardless, if you use an independent carpet installer, always make sure they follow standard installation of residential carpet procedures.

Choosing the right installer entirely depends on your specific needs. If you change your carpeting every few years, using an independent carpet installer may be the way to go. However, if you want carpeting that will last for a long time, get a follow up from a retailer since this will ensure a trouble free experience with installation.

Whatever you choose to do, ensure prior to installation the carpet is power stretched so wrinkling and rippling is minimized. It's also important to measure your rooms before laying them and that the sub floor has been thoroughly cleaned.

Vacuum the old carpet well before removing which will help eliminate dust. Once the new carpet is down, the edges should be trimmed and sealed with hardwood. Inspect the carpet, and make sure that nothing looks out of the ordinary and that everything pleases you before you complete the deal.

Remember, regardless of how expensive or exotic the carpets you've purchased, the installation process will makes or break the look of your home. Therefore, it pays to invest some time, money, and effort to choose the best installer for your carpets.
