Home Office Decorating and Feng Shui
from: Maxx Home GuidesMany small businesses are initially operated from a home base. Any small room can be converted into an office and when the business is running smoothly, an entrepreneur can decide whether to continue working from their home office or renting outside office space.
When it comes to home office decorating, tearing down walls or doing costly renovations isn't really necessary. All you really have to do is to move a few things around to create an environment conducive to working eficiently.
A good way guide yourself when decorating is to use the principles of Feng Shui. The atmospher and how an office looks can help to bring prosperity to a home business.
A home workstation can’t be called an office without a table, which must be the central focus of the room and must be positioned facing the door. This isn't always possible, so an alternative is to put a mirror that gives you a view of the door.
Also, keep in mind that there must be a solid wall behind the desk. Those who follow this will have strong support for the entrepreneur and the business.
Feng Shui also specifies that an individual should have a good view outside through a window. If the office locatation doesn't have a window, once again a mirror must be placed to be able to see what's happening outside the house.
When this has been done, it's time to place additional items on the table. Your computer should be placed to one side with the telephone nearby, which makes it easier to answer when someone call.
It's also important that your office table has a comfortable chair because your business is like a small kingdom and the king must sit there as though it's a throne. A comfortable chair is a main key to help you be productive.
Once this has been taken care of, other stuff such as a garbage can, shelves and cabinets will be secondary when decorating the home office. The location must always be clean and organized so it's easy to find what you need.
Feng Shui isn't just used for business. Many Chinese use these principles to bring prosperity and peace to those who live and visit the home. If you'd like to know more about the guiding priniples of this eastern practice, go to The Art of Feng Shui.
